GLOSSARY


Bilingualism:  is the use of two languages by a group of people, it also implies a socio – cultural linguistic behavior and has multidimensional aspects in order to communicate correctly in other language.  Butler, Y. Bilingual education: It consist in the use of two different language in classromm instruction, students get the ability to comunicate in two languages.



International Bilingual School: it is an institution which gets financial support from international organization, teachers are foreigner, the intensity with the contact with the foreign languages is high, more than the 50% of the curriculum, more than two languages are used in order to teach, texts and materials are imported, it promotes exchages with foreign countries, graduetes have to pass an international exam.


National Bilingual School: managers are native, more than the half of the curriculum has the intensity in the use of the second language, it promotes a cultural orientation, graduates have to pass an international exam besides to pass the colombian curriculum.

School with Intensification in foreign language: foreign language is teaching for about 10 - 15 hours a week, it isn't used to teach a specific curricular area.
